What to do if You Have Insomnia NOW
Here's the exact reason women should NEVER diet like men. Special tips for controlling female metabolism for that tight tummy and waistline you deserve
If it's midnight and you're wide awake, you don't want to hear about what you should do in the early evenings to overcome insomnia--you need answers NOW. You can't delay. What can a frustrated insomniac do? Get out of bed. You may think you're best of lying there, begging your body to please sleep, but you'll probably just upset yourself by wishing you were asleep when your body isn't cooperating. It may help you to consider falling asleep as being akin to landing a plane properly; if the landing doesn't go as planned the first time, you may have to circle around and try to bring the plane in for a second try. Your body has a window of time in which it is used to falling asleep; if you are off and miss that window, you may have to get up, do your bedtime routine again, and then try to fall asleep. Try the old standby - warm milk. It’s true: warm milk will make you sleepy. If you don't like warm milk, brew up some decaffeinated tea; Valerian tea will make you drowsy, and Chamomile will relax you. Do something that will relax you and possibly bore you. Keep the lights dim and do something that will make you sleepy. Do not use your computer, watch television, or play video games as the stimulation will prevent you from going back to sleep. Instead try something like meditation, knitting, or reading a light magazine. Construct a plan. If you suspect your insomnia is linked to a concern or stress, trying writing out what you can do about it. Don't make calls, send emails, or take any action; write out a plan regarding what you can do and what you must leave to others. When you've exhausted all the possibilities, go back to bed and try to go to sleep. Get some rest!
